How to Join Espay

  1. Eligibility
    Your business must comply with Indonesian law, whether a legal entity or an individual.
  2. Submit Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and Required Legal Documents
    Individuals: Director’s ID (KTP) or equivalent, Tax ID (NPWP) as per KTP, Company Profile
    Legal Entities: Director’s ID (KTP) or equivalent, Company NPWP, Company Profile, Deed of Establishment and Articles of Association, Business License (SIUP), Company Registration Certificate (TDP), Ministry of Law and Human Rights Decree (SK Menkumham), Company Domicile Certificate (SKDP)
  3. Merchant Due Diligence
    Espay conducts Know Your Merchant (KYM) to approve onboarding.
  4. API Integration
    Merchants integrate via Espay API using the documentation [link to documentation].
  5. Development Testing
    Merchants perform testing through the sandbox API.
  6. User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    After development testing, merchants must complete UAT.
  7. Go Live
    Once the Espay team approves the UAT documents, the merchant can go LIVE.

Requirements

In accordance with Indonesian laws and regulations, and upholding anti-money laundering principles, merchants are required to:

  1. Be a legal entity or individual with clear identification and licensing in Indonesia or the respective country.
  2. Operate a business that does not violate Indonesian law (e.g., gambling, pornography).
  3. For financial-related activities such as lending, cryptocurrency trading, investments, insurance, or fund transfers, have the necessary licenses from the relevant regulators (e.g., OJK, Bappebti, Bank Indonesia).
  4. Ensure business activities do not deviate from the registered licensing terms.
  5. Be willing to undergo end-to-end KYC for beneficial owners or audits related to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) regulations.
What is a Payment Gateway?

A payment gateway is an intermediary that connects merchants with banks or other funding sources, enabling merchants to accept payments via credit cards, direct payments, e-wallets, and other payment methods.

Who are Espay and PT. Pembayaran Lintas Usaha Sukses?

Espay is the brand of the payment gateway platform developed by PT. Pembayaran Lintas Usaha Sukses (PLUS).
PT. Pembayaran Lintas Usaha Sukses (PLUS) is a company registered with Bank Indonesia and licensed as a Payment Gateway Provider under Bank Indonesia’s letter No. 20/374/DKSP/Srt/B dated October 15, 2018. PLUS offers comprehensive payment acceptance solutions for businesses of all sizes—including corporations, SMEs, retail, and individuals—through a complete range of payment channels such as credit cards, banks, outlets, and cash agents. PLUS also provides automated and integrated fund disbursement (cash-out) solutions to bank accounts or cash.

Individuals, institutions, and corporations across various industries and business models can use a payment gateway, provided they meet the applicable requirements.

How Long Does It Take from Registration to Go-Live?

There are two main steps for prospective merchants:
a. Administration & Legal

  • Complete administrative and legal requirements
  • Espay conducts due diligence and checks document completeness to ensure the merchant meets requirements and has identified risk, which typically takes 2–3 business days
  • Espay and the merchant sign the Cooperation Agreement on a stamped document
  • Once requirements are met, Espay activates the merchant

b. Technical Setup

  • Merchant integrates using the available API or via a plugin
  • Merchant requests access to the sandbox from the Espay team
  • Conduct API testing using the sandbox
  • The payment gateway is ready for use once both administrative and technical processes are completed.

Does Espay Support SDK for Android/iOS?

Has Espay Obtained a License from Bank Indonesia?

Yes, Espay is licensed by Bank Indonesia as a Payment System Service Provider. You can view the license Here.

When Will Payments Be Received by the Merchant?

Espay offers two fund receipt methods: Aggregator and Direct.

Aggregator Method

  • Merchants can use a single bank account to receive payments from all available channels.
  • Funds are first received by Espay, and after reconciliation on the next business day (H+1), they are transferred to the merchant’s account.

Direct Method

  • Merchants must open a separate bank account for each selected payment channel and establish a direct agreement with the respective banks.
  • Funds are credited directly by the channel’s bank.
  • Going live may take longer depending on bank approval and the minimum monthly transaction target.

Settlement Reports

  • Fund disbursement reports can be viewed through the dashboard.
  • Merchants can also perform reconciliation using downloadable data available on the merchant dashboard.
